The Girl With The Style Transformation

Feel like altering your style for the new year? Or just fancy a change in your wardrobe? Look for inspiration no further than one of this years most talked about actresses - Rooney Mara. Over the past 3 years she has transformed herself from cute and girly to punky grunge to sophisticated glamour. Her status as an actress has also grown considerably over this period.

These photos were all taken from January 2009 to April 2010. Rooney has a certain sweetness, with her caramel brown hair and lace detailed dresses. These looks are all quite timeless and have a vintage feel to them. Then in August 2010, Miss Mara was cast to play Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and so the transformation began.

It's amazing what a hair cut and some black dye can do. It was a brave move by Rooney but she has made it work to her advantage. The grunge look is going to be a key trend during the transition from winter to spring.

H&M have already launched their collection created by the films costume designer, Trish Summerville. The pieces are made up of leather trousers and jackets, dark grey hooded cardigans, distressed dark denim and laced up army boots.
Rooney has been spotted at various events and premiere's for the film incorporating her characters dark style into her red carpet looks.

She appears to have gotten somewhat raunchier in her outfit choices with lower necklines, shorter hemlines and cut out backs. Her style also now includes a lot more black which was widely associated with her character, Lisbeth Salander.I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Rooney in the next year so it will be interesting to see how her style progresses with the different roles she takes on. No doubt she'll feature more in my blog come awards season!!
